  • If the error reoccurs with the same key proceed to solution 2.If the error occurs with another registry key repeat steps 4-11 using the new registry key in the error message.
  • I ended up looking for any key in the components area that had the arrow showing they could be expanded.
  • Long process but it did work for me.
  • Again, you might get errors but that’s OK.
  • At one point I almost gave up, but the only thing that kept me on forums and looking for solution is reinstalling windows.

Once you find the key (mine was in hklm\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components), you will notice that there are subkeys underneath that you don't have any permission to. Bartimeo Thank you very much, it worked like a charm! Zman Unfortunately the SubInAcl solution didn't work in my case, but Mike's solution of finding each key that had a problem and fixing the permissions on each one worked GREAT & Long process but it did work for me.
